What is Montessori Education?

Dr. Maria Montessori (1870-1952) developed a philosophy and a method of education and an approach that is child-centered and not adult-centered. Montessori education is organized in such a manner that the children learn through their own experiences in the environment and the focus is on the child’s learning and the teacher’s serve as a guide to making the learning possible. Dr. Montessori was always working for life and not merely for the educational process of life. Montessori is a philosophy of education that came out of the observation of the child and everything is based on observations and linking them to the class activities that are appropriate to the development of the child who has the drive to learn and find out everything they can from their environment.
